How to Send Your First WhatsApp Campaign
What You Need Before You Start
Three things: a business email address, a phone number that is not currently active on the WhatsApp app, and a few contacts you are allowed to message. That is it. No developer and no integration work.
1. Create Your Account
Sign up with your email address or a Google account. There is no plan to choose and no card to enter. You land on a dashboard with a setup checklist that tracks the remaining steps.
2. Connect Your WhatsApp Number
Open the dashboard and start the Connect WhatsApp step. Meta's Embedded Signup walks you through verifying your business and linking the number. If you already have a WhatsApp Business Account, you can connect it instead of creating a new one. The checklist shows the connection as done as soon as Meta confirms the number.
3. Recharge Your Wallet
Campaigns are prepaid. Recharge any amount from the wallet page; recharges from ₹1,000 earn bonus credit. Payment is handled by Razorpay and supports UPI, cards and net banking.
4. Import Your Contacts
Download the sample CSV from the Contacts page and fill it in, or export from your own system. The import wizard maps your columns to fields like name, phone and tags, shows a preview of valid and invalid rows, and lets you fix problems before anything is saved.
5. Create and Submit a Template
WhatsApp requires an approved template for the first message in a conversation. Open Templates and create one. You write the copy, add variables and buttons if you need them, and watch the live WhatsApp preview as you type. Submit it to Meta; approval usually takes minutes and the status updates in the list.
6. Send the Campaign
Open Campaigns and start the four-step wizard:
- Details: name the campaign.
- Audience: send to all contacts, a tag, or a CSV you upload for that campaign.
- Template and parameters: pick an approved template and fill its variables.
- Cost and schedule: review the exact recipient count, the platform fee and Meta's charge, then send now or schedule it.
While the campaign runs, the report page tracks sent, delivered and read counts. Any message that fails is refunded to your wallet automatically, and you can retry the failed recipients with one click.
What a Campaign Costs
For an Indian audience, a marketing template costs ₹0.86 at Meta's published rate plus our flat platform fee of ₹0.20 per message. Utility and authentication templates cost less because Meta charges less for them. The wizard shows both parts before you send, so there are no surprises on the wallet page.
